A proud member of the Peavine Metis Settlement, Sherry serves as Vice-President of the Metis Settlements General Council (MSGC). Sherry has served as a local Vice-Chairperson and previous Executive member. Sherry was elected in January 2026. From an early age, Sherry was taught the value of education. Through diligence, she has developed excellent communication skills. Notably, both written and verbal competencies were achieved. Sherry’s desire to build on the foundation left by previous Settlement founders and leaders in the Metis Settlements is what drives her strong work ethic. Through a diverse business-oriented and political background, building bridges has been a key component of her individual character traits. Through volunteering and collaboration on both provincial and federal campaigns, Sherry’s understanding of both provincial and federal politics was significantly enhanced. The values of fairness, justice, integrity, opportunity and accountability are part of Sherry’s core beliefs. Being a life-long learner and sharing learned knowledge with Settlement members are practices which she feels are necessary to enhance the Metis Settlements. In addition to acquiring experience as a former Community and Policy Advisor within Indigenous Relations, Sherry enjoyed being part of a United Way Fundraising Team within the Ministry. Previous volunteering as a coach and tutor spurred interest to continue reinforcing the “pay it forward” mindset which has resonated throughout her life. |
